RE
RE at Windy Arbor
In RE we explore different religions and further our own spiritual development.
We follow the Discovery RE scheme within school from Years 1-6.
RE in the Foundation Stage is taught during Knowledge and Understanding of the World.
The scheme enables children to make their own decisions about religion and enhance their own spiritual development. It uses an enquiry-based model and when used well, children’s critical thinking skills can be developed, their motivation to learn increased, and their knowledge and understanding of, and empathy with people and their beliefs, religious or otherwise, will be enhanced.
This approach takes very seriously the philosophy that children are free to make their own choices and
decisions concerning religion and belief. RE does not try to persuade but rather to inform and develop the
skills with which evaluation can take place.
Different religions are taught over the children's time at Windy Arbor and we also have very good links with 'Three Trees' which is a local church and communal worship takes place on a weekly basis.
