Local Advisory board (LAB)
At Windy Arbor Primary School, the Advisory board provides strategic direction, oversight and challenge that helps to shape the vision, values and long term priorities of the school. Our purpose is to support the school in delivering a safe, inclusive and ambitious learning environment where all pupils can thrive.
The Local advisory board are responsible for:
- Ensuring the school is operating within the ethos set out in our vision and values.
- Contributing to the key strategic priorities.
- Monitoring the quality of teaching and learning, attendance, behaviour and safety, within the school and progress against the school improvement plan.
- Deciding on how the resources of the school are best used.
- Ensuring that we are vigilant and compliant in respect of all safeguarding matters.
- Supporting the appointment of staff
Through informed decision-making and constructive challenge, governors help ensure the school remains forward thinking and focused on continuous improvement.

Meet our Local Advisory Board members
Mr Carl Pervin (Chair)
I have been a managing Director in the Network infrastructure business sector since 1988. I live locally in Chelmsley Wood with my partner Janey of 40 years, and in my spare time I enjoy playing golf and watching motorsport.
Mr Chris Bentley (Chair of Outcomes Committee/Vice Chair)
Now retired, I was a primary teacher in Birmingham before becoming a headteacher in Solihull, where I worked for 18 years. I'm married with grown-up daughters, who are currently both teachers as well.
I still really enjoy being in school, working with the teachers and children and am glad to be able to help as a governor/advisor at Windy to help the school to become the best it can be.
In my free time I enjoy sport and music as well as reading and writing.
Mr Nicholas Stephens (Pupil premium)
Nicola Lamond (Safeguarding)
I am an English teacher, who worked in a range of different schools in Walsall and Dudley. I have now retired from teaching and really enjoy supporting Windy Arbor as an advisor. I have responsibility for Safeguarding and Child Protection and take special interest in Literacy.
I am proud to be an advisor, and wholeheartedly support the school and its ethos of Dream, Believe and Achieve.
Mrs Hannah Geerlings (Staff Advisor)
I am the Assistant SENCO and a teacher across the school. I have gained experience working in several schools across Birmingham before joining Windy Arbor in 2016. I am passionate about supporting children with additional needs, ensuring they have the resources and support to thrive.
As a teacher governor, I represent the teaching staff and contribute to strategic decisions by offering first-hand insight into the school's daily operations.
Mrs Joanne O'Beirne-Elliman (Parent Advisor - SEND Link)
I am a newly appointed Parent Advisor, part of the LAB, covering Windy Arbor Primary School. I additionally am tasked to support the SEN team. I have a drive to support the school as a Parent LAB member, to provide a parents perspective on activities and help shape the school on their continuous pathway for success in meeting their goals and objectives, that ultimately mean all children can 'dream, believe and achieve'. Though my profession is not in education, but in medical regulation, I am eager to learn and grow to meet the needs of the role.
Mrs Dawn Pimm (Parent Advisor - EYFS link)
I am a newly appointed Parent Advisor. I am looking forward to actively contributing to the school community by representing parents and ensuring their voices are heard and valued. I bring experience in financial management and budgeting, and I am committed to helping shape the school's vision and strategy while ensuring that resources are used efficiently and effectively.
