Creative Curriculum

During this term, we will be exploring the following:

Computing

We will be developing our computing skills by completing some research about an African animal and gather information to create a poster. We will be using technology purposefully to create, organise, store, manipulate and retrieve digital content.

Music

We will be using our voices expressively and creatively by singing songs and speaking chants and rhymes. We will explore how to play tuned and untuned instruments musically. We will be using our listening skills to help us understand a range of high-quality live and recorded music. We will experiment with, create, select and combine sounds using the inter-related dimensions of music.

Charanga - The Friendship Song

Geography

We will be identifying geographical similarities and differences through studying the human and physical geography of a small area of the United Kingdom, and of a small area in a contrasting non-European country.

We will use geographical vocabulary to refer to key physical features, including: hill, mountain, soil, vegetation, season and weather also key human features, including: city, town, village, factory, farm, and house.

Art

We are going to explore work by the artist 'Esther Mahlangu', describing the differences between different practices and disciplines, and making links to their own work such as giving an opinion about a piece of art work, asking questions about 'Esther Mahlangu's' art work. We will be learning skills such as carefully cutting, rolling and coiling materials to create our own piece of artwork.

What was he famous for? What did he do throughout his life?. We will use different sources such as information texts, newspapers, photographs and artefacts to find key events of Nelson Mandela's life and create a timeline and a biography.
