Creative Curriculum
During this term, we will be exploring the following:
Computing
We will be developing our computing skills by completing some research about an African animal and gather information to create a poster. We will be using technology purposefully to create, organise, store, manipulate and retrieve digital content.
Music
We will be using our voices expressively and creatively by singing songs and speaking chants and rhymes. We will explore how to play tuned and untuned instruments musically. We will be using our listening skills to help us understand a range of high-quality live and recorded music. We will experiment with, create, select and combine sounds using the inter-related dimensions of music.
Charanga - The Friendship Song
Geography
We will be identifying geographical similarities and differences through studying the human and physical geography of a small area of the United Kingdom, and of a small area in a contrasting non-European country.
We will use geographical vocabulary to refer to key physical features, including: hill, mountain, soil, vegetation, season and weather also key human features, including: city, town, village, factory, farm, and house.
Art
We are going to explore work by the artist 'Esther Mahlangu', describing the differences between different practices and disciplines, and making links to their own work such as giving an opinion about a piece of art work, asking questions about 'Esther Mahlangu's' art work. We will be learning skills such as carefully cutting, rolling and coiling materials to create our own piece of artwork.
History
We will be comparing the lives of significant individuals in the past who have contributed to national and international achievements such as Nelson Mandela. We will explore who was Nelson Mandela? What was he famous for? What did he do throughout his life?. We will use different sources such as information texts, newspapers, photographs and artefacts to find key events of Nelson Mandela's life and create a timeline and a biography.
D&T
We will investigate and taste different fruits in order to design and create a fruit smoothie to encourage healthy eating.
