Creative Curriculum

During this term, we will be exploring the following:

 

Computing

 

We will be researching and sharing our findings about the various technology that can be used in and out of school. We will being to understand coding and talk about how technology can be used safely.

 

Music

 

We will be using our voices expressively and creatively by singing songs and speaking chants and rhymes. We will explore how to play tuned and untuned instruments musically. We will be using our listening skills to help us understand a range of high-quality live and recorded music. We will experiment with, create, select and combine sounds using the inter-related dimensions of music. 

 

Charanga - Bringing us Together 

 

History

 

We will be developing an awareness of the past, using common words and phrases related to the passing of time. To investigate how to find out about the past and identify different ways in which it is represented. We will explore sources in a personal way by finding how do we find out what we were like as babies and to talk about changes that have happened around them such as global events that have happened in their lives.

      

Art

 

We will be exploring a Skills Builder Project –' Galley Opening'.

During this project, we will work together to create and curate a whole-group galley of our artwork. We will gain and understanding of the process involved in running our own gallery, including the values of planning ahead, collaboration and design. We will be using the skills, Speaking, Creativity and Aiming High.

The artist we will be exploring is: 'Giuseppe Arcimboldo'. We will look how unusual objects can be used to create familiar images. 

 

 

 

Geography

 

We will be naming, locating and identifying characteristics of the four countries and capital cities of the United Kingdom and its surrounding seas. We will explore maps, compasses and carry out simple fieldwork using observational skills to study the geography of our school and its grounds, thinking about the key human and physical features of its surrounds environments.

D&T

 

We will explore designing, making and evaluating a funfair ride for children to enjoy.

We will explore freestanding structures by using construction materials – e.g. bricks and straws. We will demonstrate the skills measuring, marking, cutting out and finishing techniques using the materials and tools. We will fold, bend, stick card to create different structures and consider how folding card makes it stronger, stiffer and more stable.
