Singing in Touchwood

On Thursday 15th December, our choir sang in Touchwood! The children sang 9 songs, and many people stopped to share in the Christmas magic! We even received this email after stopping to listen to the school choir!

Good morning,

I just wanted to pass on a congratulations to your School choir. I happened to be walking through Touchwood on 15/12/22 and was fortunate enough to watch their performance. It was a great representation of your School and they all did themselves proud.

Windy Arbor School Choir

This year the children in Choir have had a very exciting start to the year! The children won a competition with Jigsaw - the children had to learn and record a newly written and composed song by the artistic directors at jigsaw. The children won the competition and are now the new voice of Jigsaw! The children spent a week with Ryan, one of the artistic directors from Jigsaw, here is what he had to say after spending a week recording the new songs with the children!

It has been a pleasure visiting Windy Arbor this week to learn and record six new pieces of music that will be heard by millions of children globally. These six pieces of music send out a meaningful message and compliment the Jigsaw PSHE curriculum. The talented Windy Arbor choir have shown dedication, commitment and resilience, which has been great to see as these key themes are underpinned in the Jigsaw PSHE framework. I have been welcomed by all staff and students - so thank you for being great! I can’t wait to share the final product with the school”

Netball Skills Club

In the first half of the academic year, children in year 5 and 6 are given the opportunity to attend an after-school Netball Skills Club. Sessions involve learning a range of routines that teach the children how to shoot, as well as the different passes involved in the game along with the required footwork. Children work in teams of 8 to complete the routine, which ends with 10 goals, in the quickest time possible. In February we then attend the Solihull Netball Skills Tournament, where we compete with other local schools to complete the routine in the quickest time.

Windy Arbor have been successful in holding the title of Solihull Netball Skills Champions on several occasions.
