Read the powerpoint and then have a look at the different examples of newspaper articles.

Underline or make a list of the features you have found.

Now, write a list of these features with an explanation to show the purpose of each one.

Write a paragraph to explain the purpose of newspapers- who are they for, why are they written and how are they important?

Tuesday

Today, we are looking at direct speech and how we can use speech marks correctly in our writing.

Use the powerpoint to find out more about speech marks and then complete the activities below.

Wednesday
Following on from yesterday's work on direct speech, have a go at these worksheets to practice how to use speech marks correctly.
Thursday

Using your knowledge of features of newspaper reports, begin to think about how you will create your own newspaper.

Thinking about the influenza outbreak we have been reading about in The Railway Children, how can you report on this in the form of a newspaper?

Create a name for your newspaper, a title for your report and then think about the information you can include.
